Welcome to Saltcote Sailing Club
Saltcote Sailing Club is a small club with simple facilities and low membership costs. We cater for a mix of small craft (up to 23 feet) currently comprising of sailing yachts, motorboats, sailing and rowing dinghies, canoes and wind-surfers. We pride ourselves on low-cost and self-help. Most of our sailing is informal but we do have several organised events each year. Our membership is currently about 60.
Our club is based on the north bank of the beautiful river Blackwater. The club is nestled between the Blackwater Sailing Club and the Millbeach Marine Club. We are located ½ mile upstream from Osea Island and 2 miles downstream from Maldon. Like all sailing clubs above Osea Island, our sailing waters disappear twice daily. Luckily they come back with the same regularity and we have sailing water for 2 hours either side of high water.
Unlike most other clubs on the river, members can bring their boats alongside the wharf, right outside the clubhouse. This is very useful for taking on supplies, crew, fresh water etc.
We have beautiful panoramic views across the river from our double-fronted clubhouse and outdoor seating for those fine and balmy after-sail evenings that we all dream of.
